Developing wind offshore in the UK: The case of Moray Offshore Renewables
EDP Renewables decided to enter the wind offshore market through a tender in the United Kingdom, namely “The Crown Estate Third Round Offshore Wind Leasing Programme”, in 2009.
The invitation for the tender was for the exclusive rights to work with The Crown Estate in the development of offshore wind generation in specified zones. These zones were located around the UK coastline, including the Irish Sea, and the Bristol Channel, and their development is aimed to deliver up to 25GW of generating capacity, representing as much as one quarter of the UK’s electricity requirements by 2020.
The InnoEnergy Master Students has to assess:
The selected shareholders structure to bid in the tender, identify requirements for outsourcing and possible costs, considering activities to be developed in order to de-risk the project and submit the bid.
Rafael Solís, head of corp-communication at EDP Renewables
